Scholarships
Since 1990, Yankton College had given assistance to over 200 students to pursue their
education at accredited colleges and universities throughout the United States.
A degree of preference is given to those students whose families have ties to Yankton
College, many of whom would probably have attended YC. We are particularly pleased that the college is able to thus support
its alumni and former faculty, and let the story of Yankton College live on.
Over the years people have generously contributed money and memorial gifts to the general
scholarship fund, which awards music and athletic scholarships as money is available.
Larger gifts have previously honored Grace E. Johnson-Brenna and Harriet & Fredrick Riggs
for a specific number of scholarships.
"Named" scholarships are those in which a donor has contributed sufficient endowment that
scholarships may be awarded each year in perpetuity. Among these are scholarships:
Scholarships for HS seniors graduating in the spring
The Carl and Cle Youngworth Scholarship
These scholarships recognize the significant contribution of Carl and Cle Youngworth to Yankton College.
The Brown-Daniels Scholarship
These scholarships are possible through the significant endowment provided over the years to Yankton College by Helen Brown
Daniels and Bernard T. Daniels.
The Rosamond Burgi Hall Memorial Scholarship
In recognition of her many years of service to Yankton College as a superior teacher and scholar and through the generosity
of her husband, Willis Hall. In addition to the criteria for all scholarships, the recipient of this scholarship must have a
proven aptitude in one or more foreign languages.
The Bennett/Walter Scholarship
Made possible through a gift from Mrs. Louise Davis Bennett Walter, this scholarship honors the memory of Millard Bennett
and the life of Donald E. Walter.
The Rivola Family Scholarship
Mr. Robert S. Rivola has endowed a scholarship in memory of his mother Flora Shufelt Rivola, his father Charles E. Rivola,
and his sisters Helen Rivola Fawcett and Glennis Rivola Heiner.
These scholarships have the following criteria

All applicants must be seeking a baccalaureate degree from an accredited university or college. |
| 2. |
All applicants must either have a family relationship to Yankton College alumni, or
former YC faculty or staff, or a teacher, pastor, family friend or other person with a connection to Yankton College may
recommend the applicant. |
| 3. |
Preference points will be given to applicants seeking a liberal arts degree. |
| 4. |
Preference points will be given to applicants who plan to attend a private college or
university. |
| 5. |
Each applicant must show evidence of high academic ability and promise. |
| 6. |
At least 2 letters of reference from a teacher and guidance counselor of the student's
secondary school attesting to scholastic ability, leadership qualities and character. |
| 7. |
A personal statement/essay must be included. |
All information in verified and all applications blinded before being sent to at least three
reviewers each to be evaluated. Evaluations are compiled and final scores given to the Scholarship Committee for final
selection. Typically, 10-12 scholarships are awarded from a field of 60 applicants.

Scholarship for graduate school students
The Dr. Fritz A. Brink Scholarship
In honor of the memory of Dr. Fritz A. Brink (x'04), this scholarship is available to post-baccalaureate students. To be
eligible for consideration, applicants must be: seeking a graduate degree from an accredited institution and a Yankton
College graduate, former YC faculty member, or a relative of a YC graduate or faculty member.
